Bangladesh continues to reel under acts of terrorism, specifically the ongoing target killings of liberals, minorities, Ahmediyas, Shias, Sufis, gay rights' activists and even bloggers. Such murders are now happening at regular intervals. The modus operandi carries the hallmark of radical Islamist organizations -- each killing is brutal, grotesque. India, as Bangladesh's neighbour, cannot afford to remain oblivious to these disturbing developments.

Recently, terror organization ISIS released a video showing Indians appealing to Muslims in India to avenge Babri Masjid as well as the events in Muzaffarnagar, Gujarat and Kashmir. Although it is unclear how old this video is, what is significant is that it uses Indians to specifically address Indians, urging them to join the jihad of ISIS. The message is loud and clear. ISIS wants us to believe that there are radicalized Indian Muslims in Syria fighting in its ranks, while also attempting to draw in vulnerable youth in the country.

Now that the verdict is clear and Mamata Banerjee and TMC supporters are euphoric over their overwhelming victory, it's time for the triumphant Chief Minister to sit down and think about how to take the state forward. It's time to put the previous term behind her and move forward with renewed fervour and zeal.
