In my previous post, I wrote about the many challenges, frustrations and humiliations that we, the disabled population of India, face. But we are not the only ones who are victims of insensitivity. Our spouses and children also have to tolerate humiliating situations on a regular basis. It has been a while since anyone has had a majority government in our country -- it is something that I think of as an immense power. I was waiting for <em>any</em> party to get the power to decisively do things for my country and for people like me. By people like me, I mean the differently-abled of our great country, well over 26 million according to the 2011 census data, perhaps more.

The building has steep stairs, a faulty elevator without UPS backup and wait for it--the office toilet has a stair that is two-feet-high right in front of it! After a week, I went to the guy who owns the place and told him that these are my issues. He looked at me and said "I care a F@#K!"
