Rhea Mahanta is currently pursuing her Masters in Political Science and a Diploma on Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding from University of Delhi. She is a graduate of Lady Shri Ram College for Women. An advocate of human rights, gender equality and refugee issues, Rhea has worked with organizations such as Youth Forum on Foreign Policy, Assam Human Rights Commission, Operation Smile and UN Women’s HeForShe Campaign. She has also studied the Philosophy of Hinduism from the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies. Rhea is a recipient of the King’s College London Scholarship to study Defence Policy and National Military Strategy and has represented India at the International Youth Fellowship World Camp in South Korea. Her volunteering activities include working with the underprivileged children of Udayan Care and teaching in Deepjyoti, a school for slum children. Along with academics, Rhea has a strong inclination towards performing arts, public-speaking and travelling. She is a chess player, a professional musician and an Indian Classical Dancer. Her key interest, however, lies in international affairs, security and diplomacy.
