Bhabha's legacy in 21st century India is well captured in the LIGO detection paper, "Observation of Gravitational Waves from a Binary Black Hole Merger", which has over 30 Indian researchers. The LIGO scientific collaboration gratefully acknowledges the role of these Indian funding agencies, which Bhabha charted within just 25 years of his active role in India. Another critical contribution of Bhabha to modern India was the inclusion of the term "scientific temper" in our Constitution.

Karan Pankaj Jani is a doctoral researcher in astrophysics at the Georgia Institute of Technology and a key member of the LIGO team behind the first discovery of gravitational waves. He is the Sam Nunn Fellow on National Security and International Affairs and currently serves as the Vice-President of the Student Government at Georgia Tech.
