Deepashri Varadharajan did her undergraduate studies in electronics and communications engineering at VIT University and a postgraduate diploma in multimedia journalism at the Indian Institute of Journalism & New Media. She specialized in documentary filmmaking and business reporting at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Her documentary on long-term unemployment won awards at the New Hope Film Festival in Pennsylvania and the Rahway International Film Festival in New Jersey. Deepashri has worked for publications including Deccan Herald and Al Jazeera America.
