Avinash Anil Godbole is Research Assistant with the IDSA since June 2009. His areas of interest include Chinese domestic politics, China’s minority regions and policy and India-China relations. He also studies the Chinese domestic environmental policies and Chinese response to the global climate change debate. During 2007-08, Avinash was visiting Fox International Fellow at the Macmillan Center, Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. He is a Doctoral Candidate in the Chinese Studies Division, Centre for East Asian Studies, School of International Studies, at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi and holds Masters and M. Phil Degrees from the same institute.
The Chinese leaders' desire to establish the rule of law and communicate it to the masses is an effort to show that the leadership is alert to the fact of rampant corruption and growing gulf between the party and the masses at large.
