Anita Raj is the Director of the Center on Gender Equity and Health and a Tata Chancellor Professor of Medicine at the University of California at San Diego (UCSD), as well as a Professor of Education Studies in the Division of Social Sciences at UCSD. Anita has more than 20 years of experience conducting epidemiological and behavioural health research in South
Asia, North America, and Russia. Her research foci include girl child marriage, sexual and reproductive health, and intervention research and evaluation. She has approximately 200 peer-reviewed publications from this work, including papers in The Lancet, JAMA, and BMJ. She has served as an advisor to UNICEF, WHO, and a number of philanthropic foundations to help shape the research agenda in this field and to guide multi-sectoral responses to the elimination of girl child marriage, prevention of violence against women, and promotion of sexual and reproductive health across diverse populations and country contexts.
