The Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing on Malayalam actor Dileep's plea in which he sought a copy of the digital evidence of the alleged assault of an actress, ANI reported. The hearing has been adjourned to 23 January 2019.

In his plea, Dileep sought access to a memory card with images of the alleged assault, Firstpost reported. The Kerala government has opposed the plea.

Dileep, one of the most popular actors in the Malayalam film industry, has been accused of being the mastermind behind the attack on the actress in February 2017. His arrest on 10 July 2017 had sent shockwaves through Kerala.

After spending almost three months in jail, the Kerala High Court granted him bail on stringent conditions.

The High Court had on 14 August 2018 dismissed his petition for a copy of the digital evidence.

Dileep has sought a CBI probe into the case, alleging that the Special Investigation Team of Kerala Police had carried out a 'sham, unfair, biased, motivated and partisan' investigation.

The key accused in the case, Pulsar Suni, has been in jail since his arrest in 2017. The actress, who has worked across the Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada film industries, was abducted and allegedly molested inside her car for two hours by Suni and his accomplices.
