The Supreme Court on Tuesday barred the media from revealing the identity of sexual assault victims in any manner, NDTV reported.
"Even the dead have dignity," legal website LiveLaw quoted the court as saying.
According to LiveLaw, the top court has also barred the uploading of FIRs in rape cases to protect the victim's privacy. The court said the identity of a minor rape victim could not be disclosed under any circumstances, even with the consent of the next of kin.
