Rajasthan: Vasundhara Raje Leads In Jhalrapatan Against Congress' Manvendra Singh

I Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje is leading in Jhalrapatan constituency of Rajasthan, according to reports. Congress candidate Manvendra Singh, who switched over from the BJP just weeks before being fielded against the chief minister, is trailing.

Raje is leading by 8,845 votes, according to official Election Commission trends.

Just before the voting began, the Chief Minister visited the Maa Tripura Sundri Temple, reported NDTV.

Singh has been termed as a "turncoat" since joining the Congress. During his campaign, he acknowledged that beating Raje was an "uphill task", but said that he was here to fight and win the election.

BJP's Jhalawar MP Dushyant Singh, who was spearheading his mother Raje's campaign, had termed Manvendra Singh a "parachute candidate".

Rajasthan Congress President Sachin Pilot is leading in the Tonk constituency against the BJP's Yunus Khan.

Meanwhile, the exit polls show a comfortable win for the Congress in Rajasthan. Counting is underway for 199 seats out of 200 assembly constituencies, election for which were held on 7 December.
