Misogynist Politician Sharad Yadav Now Targets Vasundhara Raje With Body-Shaming Remark

This is not the first time that Yadav has made a cringeworthy remark about women.

Former JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav sparked outrage on Thursday during a political rally, when he said Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje needed rest because she had become "very fat".

Yadav made these comments in Rajasthan's Alway.

He said, "Vasundhra ko aaram do, bahut thak gayi hain, bahut moti ho gayi hain, pehle patli thi. Humare Madhya Pradesh ki beti hai. (Give Vasundhara some rest, she is very tired, she has become very fat, she used to be thin earlier. She is the daughter of Madhya Pradesh)."

Yadav's remarks come a day before the first phase of polling in Rajasthan on 7 December.

Last year, in January, Yadav had said "Beti ki izzat se vote ki izzat badi hai (The honour of a vote is more important than the honour of a woman). If a daughter's honour is compromised, it only affects the village or community but if the vote's honour is compromised, it impacts the entire nation."

And that's not all.

Yadav has earlier made comments on women's bodies in Parliament.

During a discussion on FDI, Yadav wanted to make a point about the Indian preference for 'fair' skin, but went on to say, "The women of the south are dark but they are... their bodies..." This is when DMK MP Kanimozhi interrupted him and objected to his remarks.
