Kisan Mukti March: The Most Scathing Remarks Against Modi And BJP At The Farmer's Rally

Opposition leaders lambasted the prime minister and his party, saying Modi has done nothing for farmers.

It was a show of united Opposition at the farmer's march in New Delhi on Friday with several leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Farooq Abdullah, Arvind Kejriwal, Sitaram Yechury, Yogendra Yadav and Sharad Pawar addressing the farmers.

Farmers from across India travelled great distances to come to Delhi and place their demands in front of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government. Wearing coloured caps, waving flags and some carrying photos of their dead relatives — those who have killed themselves under the burden of debts — the protesters raised slogans against the government. They marched amid tight security and gathered in Parliament Street where the politicians addressed them.

Leaders made scathing attacks on the Modi government, accusing them of being apathetic to the rights of farmers. While Pawar said that Manmohan Singh was much more sensitive to the issue of farmers, Kejriwal said that if Modi could give crores of rupees to Ambani and Adani, he could waive off loans of the farmers.

Meanwhile, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said that India faced two big challenges—the issue of farmers debts and employment for the youth.

Here are some remarks from politicians at the march:

Rahul Gandhi

Arvind Kejriwal

Yogendra Yadav

Sharad Pawar

Sitaram Yecury
