BJP MLA Gyandev Ahuja has resigned from the party after he was denied a ticket to contest the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly Elections.
Speaking to ANI, Ahuja said he was upset by the 'dictatorial attitude' of the BJP and would be contesting independently.
Ahuja's name was left out of the list of 31 candidates that BJP announced on 15 November. He is an MLA from Ramgarh in Alwar district in the current assembly.
Ahuja made headlines in 2016 when he had said thousands of condoms were found on the JNU campus daily.
Babulal Verma, Rajkumar Rinwa and Dhan Singh Rawat were also denied tickets.
BJP faces a strong challenge from the Congress in Rajasthan this assembly election, as the Vasundhara raje government faces anti-incumbency sentiment. While some opinion polls have given the Congress an edge, the BJP has maintained that it would win.
While the Raje government won a thumping majority in 2013, the state has a history of voting out the incumbent party every assembly election.
Rajasthan will vote on 7 December and results will be announced on 11 December.
