Jaganmohan Reddy Stabbed On Arm By Man Seeking Selfie

The incident took place at the Visakhapatnam Airport and the assailant was identified as a waiter who works at the airport.

Jaganmohan Reddy, chief of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), was stabbed by Srinivas Rao, a waiter at the Visakhapatnam Airport in Andhra Pradesh, on Thursday afternoon.

Reddy suffered a small cut on his arm.

NDTV reported that Rao allegedly got close to Reddy, asking him for a selfie, and then stabbed him.

An official was quoted byThe Indian Express as saying, "The youth also asked Jagan if YSRCP will win 160 seats in elections next year. After clicking a selfie, he turned around and attacked Reddy with a blade that is usually used in cockfights. The youth was immediately taken into custody."

A photo tweeted out by ANI showed Reddy bleeding from his arm, surrounded by security and police officers. ANI also tweeted the photo of the sharp object used to attack Reddy.

YSRCP's Roja Selvamani accused the ruling TDP government for the security lapse. However, the TDP has rubbished the allegations.

NDTV quoted TDP spokesperson Lanka Dinakar as saying, "Security at the airport comes under a central agency. We condemn the incident and will conduct a thorough inquiry."

Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu condemned the incident. He took to Twitter to say he was shocked by the attack:
