Over a year after Chennai Express producer Karim Morani had surrendered to the police in Hyderabad in a rape case, the aspiring actor from Delhi who had accused him of drugging and raping her recounted the incidents of assault on Thursday.

The woman alleged that he raped her after promising her marriage and also used nude photos and videos of her to harass her.

Morani is currently out on bail in the case.

The woman, who is now 25 years old, recounted the horror to Republic TV, saying in 2015 Morani forced her to drink alcohol even though she told him he didn't drink and then raped her.

A report on the website of the news channel quoted her as saying, "I didn't drink but he forced me to drink. Next thing I know, I wake up at 4am. I was numb and shocked. Physically and mentally, I was in a state of shock. Karim was not there. I saw there were marks on my body when I woke up," recounted the survivor."

This incident took place in Mumbai.

The survivor alleged that she spoke to Morani over the phone about the incident the very next day, but Morani laughed it off and even threatened to get her "eliminated by the underworld".

The woman recounted that he clicked photos of her when she was unconscious and used them to blackmail her and rape her multiple times after. The woman said the first incident took place when she was just 21 years old.

Morani allegedly used the photos that he had of her to force her to meet him again, sneaked her into a room and did not let her out. She alleged that he raped her multiple times inside the room.

The second incident, the woman said, took place in Ramoji city.

The woman told Republic TV, "I don't know how SRK could work with him. I don't want to drag SRK into this but how can such an icon work with this 2G accused and support a man like this."

On 10 January 2017, the woman finally lodged a complaint with the police in Hyderabad. India Today had reported that Morani was charged with rape, wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation. The producer was booked by the police on 18 January.

Morani had rubbished the allegations then. The Indian Express had quoted a statement from Morani as saying, "The complaint is absolutely false and bogus with the sole intention of tarnishing Mr Morani's reputation and image. Mr Morani will be taking appropriate steps in accordance with law to demonstrate that complaint is malafide. He is truthful and innocent and has full faith in the judiciary and is ready and willing to co-operate with the authorities to the fullest extent."

On 23 September, 2017 Morani surrendered to the police in Hyderabad. This was after both the Hyderabad High Court and the Supreme Court refused him bail.

The Supreme Court granted him bail on 18 May, 2018.

Morani has also been the producer of films like Ra.One, Happy New Year and Dilwale.
