Hours after filmmaker Vinta Nanda wrote a Facebook post accusing Alok Nath, "the most #Sanskaari (Cultured) person in the film and television industry", of rape, the actor has reacted saying the rape must have happened but it was not him.

In an exclusive interview with ABP News, "Kuch to log kahenge (People will say things)... Neither I am denying this nor do I would agree with it. It (rape) must have happened, but someone else would have done it. Well, I do not want to talk much about it as for the matter if it has come out, it will be stretched."

ABP News reported that while Nath acknowledged the #MeToo movement, he said that his "image" should be left alone.

Nath, while confirming that Nanda used to be a good friend of his, took complete credit for her success. "At one time she used to be such a good friend... today she said such a big thing. In a way, it was me who made her what she is."

Nath has been harshly criticised by several celebrities including Swara Bhaskar, Richa Chadha and Sushant Singh.

Singh, an official of the Cine And TV Artistes' Association, said that they would issue a notice to the actor.

He also requested Nanda to file a complaint with the association.

Nanda, in her Facebook post, accused Nath of raping her 19 years ago. She said that he had also assaulted the lead actor of the 1990s TV show Tara.
