Chhattisgarh To Vote On 12, 20 November, Single-Phase Polls In Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Mizoram

Results will be announced on 11 December, said the Election Commission.

Elections to five Indian states, including Maoist insurgency-hit Chhattisgarh, will take place in four phases in November and December and the election results will be declared on 11 December, the Election Commission of India announced on Saturday.

Areas of Chhattisgarh affected by left-wing extremism will vote on 12 November and the remaining 72 seats will go to the polls on 20 November. Elections in Mizoram and politically important Madhya Pradesh will be held on 28 November, while Rajasthan and Telangana will vote on 7 December, O.P Rawat, the Chief Election Commissioner of India, announced at a press conference in New Delhi.

The counting of votes for all five states will take place on 11 December.

With this announcement, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, and Rajasthan.

"The model of code of conduct came into force in Telangana on the day the state assembly was dissolved," Rawat said.

The term of the current Chhattisgarh assembly ends on 5 January, Mizoram on 15 December, Rajasthan on 28 January and Madhya Pradesh on 7 January.
