In a shocking video which went viral, a group of cops were seen chiding and hitting a girl who seen with a Muslim man.
According to reports, members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) were harassing a an inter-faith couple in Meerut. A News18 report states that the girl, a medical student in Meerut, was picked up by the cops who took to harassing her inside the police van.
The video, which since then went viral, shows a woman cop constantly hitting the girl. A male cop is seen asking her, in abominable language, why she is with a Muslim boy when there are Hindu men around.
After a journalist called the cops on Twitter, the Uttar Pradesh police asked the Meerut police to take immediate action on Twitter.
Later, the UP Police tweeted that all the cops involved had been suspended.
