After two weeks of being shut because of the Kerala floods, Cochin International Airport in Kochi started functioning on Wednesday with the first flight landing this afternoon.

Malyala Manorama reported that an Indigo flight from Pune landed in the airport at 2.05 pm.

Other flights like Jet Airways were also to operate flights from the airport in Kochi from today.

Malyala Manorama reported a statement from the airport authorities as saying that all commercial flights would resume from 29 August.

The report also said that all civil air operations from the Naval Air Station would stop from Wednesday.

The opening of the airport was first scheduled for 18 August, then 26 August and then further delayed to 29 August.

PTI had report the delay was because water levels had continued to rise flooding the runways during the deluge.
