In an apparent dig at Rahul Gandhi and the Congress, BJP MLA from Madhya Pradesh, Pannalal Shakya, has said women in the country should have "sanskari" children or remain infertile.

According to ANI, Shakya said:

NDTV reported that he also said that Kaushalya who gave birth to Lord Ram should be the role model for women in the country.

This is not the first time Shakya has made such comments. He is known to make controversial comments on how women and girls should conduct themselves.

In March this year, Shakya had said that girls will be safe if they stopped having boyfriends.

Speaking at the Guna Government College he said, "Why do girls make boyfriends? If they stop doing this, the atrocities against them will stop. A TV channel recently asked for my comment on atrocities against women in Madhya Pradesh. I told them what I told you just now."

Shakya was not happy with cricketer Virat Kohli and actress Anushka Sharma's choice of wedding venue. He said Kohli was not a patriot because he held his wedding in Italy.

During an a function in December 2017, Shakya had said, "Virat earned money in India... But he didn't find any place to marry in the country. Is Hindustan untouchable? Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, Vikramaditya, Yudhishthir got married on this land. You all must have got married here. None of us goes to a foreign country to get married ... He earned money here and spent billions there... doesn't have any respect for the country. This proves he is not a patriot."
