Irrfan Khan has released a statement saying that he is suffering from NeuroEndocrine Tumour, a rare condition that affects less than 1 million people per year in India.

The actor is flying overseas to seek treatment and says he hopes to be back with 'more stories to tell.'

There were speculations about the actor having brain cancer but his statement quashes those rumors. "Neuro is not always about the brain," he wrote.

According to Cancer.net, "An endocrine tumour is a mass that begins in the parts of the body that produce and release hormones. Because an endocrine tumor develops from cells that produce hormones, the tumor can also produce hormones. This can cause serious illness."

According to a source close to the actor, he's flowing down to a specialty hospital in Switzerland for treatment. We wish the actor a speedy recovery.
