BHOPAL -- Five days after the gangrape of a 19-year-old college student in Bhopal, the Madhya Pradesh government has transferred two senior officers including Inspector General of Police (IG).

Bhopal IG, Yogesh Choudhary, has been moved to the police headquarters.

Railway police official, Anita Malviya, who had faced strong criticism for allegedly being insensitive during the handling of the case, has also been transferred.

When asked by media persons, she was seen laughing and reportedly said that she had a "headache talking about case again and again". After the video of conversation went viral, there was anger among citizens, which was reflected on social media as well.

Malviya, a state police service (SPS) officer, was posted as superintendent of Railway Police. The GRP police station was directly under her supervision. The GRP too had refused to register an FIR initially.

This is the first action that has been taken against senior officials. Till now mostly the lower rank officials including three SHOs apart and a middle-level official had faced action.

Though he has been removed from the post of IG Bhopal, Choudhary has been given the charge of IG (Law-and-Order). Choudhary is being replaced by Jaideep Prasad.
