In a gruesome incident that has come to light on Monday, a Nigerian national was allegedly tied to a post and beaten mercilessly in South Delhi's Malviya Nagar and all of it was caught on camera.

Reports suggest residents in the area claiming that he was caught trying to rob a house in the area, after which he was beaten up by residents of the area.

A video of the incident shows the man pleading for forgiveness as a he is beaten with what looks like a rod.

At one point in the video one can see a man holding up the man's feet while another person hits him on his feet with a rod.

NDTV reports that the victim was allegedly caught inside the home of Krishna Kumar and Kumar's neighbours claimed that he fell while trying to escape.

The report says that he was handed over to the police in a badly wounded state.

The police have told the news channel that action will be taken against the attackers based on evidence from the video.

The video posted by NDTV India shows how badly the man was attacked:

There have been several such incidents against people from African nations in the national capital region.

Students, belonging from African countries, were beaten up in several areas of NCR in March after residents of a Greater Noida society had alleged that a group of African student living there had kidnapped and drugged a teenager who later died.

A raging mob had beaten up helpless students in Greater Noida's Ansal Plaza mall.

The African Heads of Mission posted in New Delhi had strongly condemned the attacks and had called them "xenophobic and racial in nature".

A statement issued after a meeting of the envoys following the incident and dated March 31 said: "As regards the recent unfortunate incident in Greater Noida, the African Heads of Mission strongly condemn the incident and express their deep concern and also take note that these reprehensible events both outstanding and unresolved cases against Africans, were not sufficiently condemned by the Indian authorities. The meeting unanimously agreed that those re-accumulated attacks against Africans are xenophobic and racial in nature."
