Locals Tie Gujarat BJP Councillor To Tree, Beat Him Up For Demolishing Slum

A bunch of people whose slums were pulled down in Vadodara tied a councillor of the ruling BJP in Gujarat to a tree and beat him up.

A video that was shared on social media showed Hasmukh Patel tied up, his white shirt torn, while a group of people ringed around him, hurling abuses.

According to NDTV report, 30 people have been arrested for the incident.

The report noted that angry local residents approached the Vadodara Municipal Commissioner's office after their homes were razed by the civic body, allegedly without any notice. When they were told that a notice had been sent to Patel, their local councillor, they confronted him. Later, tying him up and beating him.
