17-Year-Old Bengaluru Boy Drowns While Friends Were Busy Taking Selfie

The incident came to light after Vishwas' friends started searching for him and came across a picture that captured the boy drowning.

KANAKPURA -- In what was another case of 'selfie fever' claiming lives, a 17-year-old student on Monday drowned in a pond near Karnataka's Kanakapura, while his friends were busy taking group selfies.

The deceased has been identified as G. Vishwas, a student of National College in Jayanagar who went for trekking with 21 students.

Reportedly, the incident came to light after Vishwas' friends started searching for him and came across a picture that captured the boy drowning, while they struck poses for the camera.

After informing the team coordinator, they went back to the pond and found his body floating.
