A 44-year-old woman has been arrested after a video of her slapping a soldier in Delhi's Vasant Kunj on Saturday went viral on social media.

NDTV reported that Smriti Kalra, a resident of Gurgaon, was arrested for "causing hurt to deter a public servant". The report said Kalra has been also charged with assaulting a public servant and duty and wrongful restraint.

The video, probably recorded by a passerby, shows the woman repeatedly slapping and hitting a uniformed soldier while he tried to save himself by covering his face. She continues to assault the soldier who doesn't retort and then walks to her car angrily.

The soldier and other soldiers are seen trying to speak to her, but to no avail.

The video shows that her car was stopped in front of an army vehicle on a busy street in Vasant Kunj in Delhi.

The NDTV report said that Kalra's car has also been seized.
