Soon after Kerala Women's Commission's chairperson, MC Josephine, booked independent MLA PC George for making derogatory comments against a woman, she allegedly started receiving anonymous death threats. Her adversaries reportedly went as far as sending human excreta to her office, addressed to her.

The News Minutereports that Josephine told the press that she started receiving these letters soon after she decided to take action against PC George.

In August this year, George decided to share his opinion on the sexual assault case that shook the Malayalam film industry--actor Dileep was accused of abducting and assaulting an actress. George commented that the survivor has cooked up an elaborate lie to malign Dileep. He even questioned that if she really was assaulted as brutally as the prosecution had claimed, how did she manage to go back to work.

According to a report in Mathrubhumi, the commission had filed a case against PC George for the insensitive comments and insinuations made against the actress. Following which, a war of words had started between the the commission and George.

Manorama reports: "George stuck to his guns even after the commission pulled him up for his comments in press conferences and televised debates. He dared the commission to hang him if it can and said he would testify before it as and when he deemed convenient."

Josephine said she couldn't confirm the threats were from George's followers, but she suspects they may have something to do with it.

"This is intolerance towards women's reaction to issues. I will hand over the letters to the Director General of Police. Attacking me is equal to attack towards all women in Kerala, as I represent them. I had been receiving the letters for some time now, but I was tolerant enough to wait and not give a complaint. I believe in showing maturity holding this post. I will not say that it is done by PC George's followers. But those letters can indicate many things," she told the media in Thiruvananthapuram.
