NEW DELHI -- A woman died on Sunday after falling off a train at the Old Delhi Railway Station while resisting an alleged robbery attempt, police said.

According to a complaint filed by the deceased's son, unidentified men tried to grab his mother's purse in the wee hours, they said.

The victim, Sudhir, lost her balance and fell off the train, police said.

The woman, in her 40s, died on her way to the hospital, they said.

The complainant alleged that they could not identify the culprits as it was dark.

The police are examining the CCTV footage to gain clues about the culprits.
