Bollywood actor Sitaram Panchal, known for playing hard-hitting characters in movies like Peepli Live and Paan Singh Tomar, passed away on Thursday morning after a painful battle with cancer.
He was 54.
According to reports, the actor complained of breathlessness early in the morning and was rushed to a hospital, where he passed away around 7 am.
Panchal was suffering from kidney and lung cancer since 2014. The actor was also facing a financial crisis and had made an appeal to his fans and friends through social media to support him with the treatment.
"Bhaio meri help karo meri cancer se halat kharab hoti ja rahi hai apka kalakar bhai sitaram panchal," he had written.
The organisation Cine & TV Artistes Association had also come forward to offer help. The Haryana government offered ₹5 lakh for the actor's treatment.
However, according to a Hindustan Times report, the actor only took Ayurvedic medicines and didn't shift to allopathy.
The acclaimed actor had only recently celebrated his 26th wedding anniversary. His son, Rishabh, even posted a picture of his parents.
