Mumbai police arrested an Ola cab driver on Wednesday after a 30-year-old woman reported that the man had flashed at her. The incident occurred in Mumbai on Monday.
Arun Matadhankar Tiwari, 40, was arrested from his home in Thane, Hindustan Times reported.
The woman, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, has alleged that she had booked a shared Ola cab from Andheri to Parel. There were other passengers in the vehicle when she got in. But when the cab reached SK Bole Marg at Shivaji Park, she was alone in the vehicle.
The driver stopped the car and reportedly unzipped and flashed.
"Shocked, the woman immediately got off the taxi and ran as far as she could," Rajiv Jain, deputy commissioner of police (zone V) told.
A case under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered.
"The driver has been blacklisted with immediate effect," Ola spokesperson reportedly said. "Ola has zero-tolerance for such behavior. We have extended full support to the customer and relevant authorities for further investigation. Safety of customers is paramount to us at all times."
This is not the first such incident. In May this year, another Ola cab driver was detained for allegedly molesting a female passenger in Bengaluru.
Last year in Delhi, a Belgian woman had alleged that she was molested by an Ola Cab driver at South East Delhi's Chittaranjan Park on Saturday night.
Similar incidents have been reported from drivers at another cab service Uber. In December last year, one Uber cab driver was arrested for allegedly molesting a Delhi airport manager.
