Alleged Bajrang Dal Activists Thrash 3 In Bihar On Suspicion Of Carrying Beef

A truck driver and two others were thrashed in Bihar's Bhojpur district on Thursday on the suspicion of carrying cow meat in a truck.

The Hindu reports that the mob that beat up the three were led by alleged Banjrang Dal activists onNational Highway 84 in Ranisagar area of Shahpur in the Bhojpur district.

Reports suggest that the mob tried to set fire to the vehicle, but the attempt was foiled by the police.

India Today reported sources as saying that the mob allegedly got a tip off about a truck carrying beef coming from the Ranisagar village. The sources said that the locals also had information for many days of beef being transported from the village.

Reports suggest that the police rescued the three from the mob and took them into custody.

IANS quoted an official as saying, "They will be interrogated whether they were carrying beef or buffalo meat."

The report suggested that the driver of the truck confessed to have been carrying buffalo meat but not beef.

While incidents like these have been happening across the country, an RJD leaders had blamed it on the new JD(U)-BJP government.

He told The Hindu, "With the BJP government coming to power, such incidents of cow vigilantes and mob lynching will be a regular affair in the State."

Reports also said that the mob blocked Ara-Buxar road demanding that the three men be handed over to them instead of the cops taking them.
