A 12-year-old girl was tied up in the bushes near a railway station in Bangalore and sexually assaulted by six boys for at least 30 minutes. The boys would have continued assaulting her had a woman not spotted them and raised an alarm.
Bangalore Mirror reports the girl was taken to a hospital by her parents where it was confirmed that she had been assaulted. Yet, it took the police 10 days to even file an FIR.

First, the family had to make multiple trips to the station to goad the cops to file an FIR. The police allegedly told them initially that they won't lodge a formal complaint but will informally teach the boys -- most of who are minors -- a lesson.
On one trip to the police station, the survivor was made to sit there till 11 in the night and was questioned at least 10 times, every time by a male officer. The girl told Bangalore Mirror that one woman officer spoke to her, but very briefly.
Later, the police arrested two people who were not involved in the crime. The girl had identified three of her assaulters through a Facebook photograph and told the police as much, however, the police allegedly ignored her.
"The former state public prosecutor, Chandramouli HS, said the police should not have filed a non-cognizable offence report when the survivor approached them the first time," Bangalore Mirror reports.
The police, in their defence, told the tabloid that it took them that long to file an FIR because the girl was constantly changing her statements.
