DEHRADUN — In yet another upheaval caused by a social media post, clashes between two groups took place in Satpuli, situated in Uttarakhand's Garhwal district.
Tension gripped the town when a minor boy allegedly posted an 'offensive' picture of the Kedarnath shrine on Facebook.
According to reports, activists belonging to the Bajrang Dal and other right-wing organisations vandalised a vegetable shop belonging to the minor's family.
Seeing the situation's sensitivity, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and District Magistrate (DM) rushed to the troubled spot.
"We are trying to nab the one who originally posted the inflammatory picture of the Kedarnath shrine and normalise the situation," the Hindustan Times quoted the SP as saying.
According to eyewitnesses, activists shouting pro-Hindu slogans were demanding that the culprits be arrested.
In a similar incident recently, clashes broke out between two groups in West Bengal's Basirhat over a Facebook post.
