Shah Rukh Khan's Doodle From 1997 Is A Quirky Tourist's Impression Of Paris

Before doodles were cool.
.

In 1997, during a trip to Paris, Shah Rukh Khan sat down and decided to put his thoughts on a piece of paper. He doodled. And now, two decades later, after it emerged from a film critic-journalist's collection, it's being auctioned.

The doodle is now going under the hammer at Osian's The Greatest Indian Show On Earth 2. Along with SRK's artwork, the auction will also feature other Bollywood stars paintings besides vintage film memorabilia and publicity material.

Among other things, SRK drew King Kong climbing the Eiffel Tower, apparently trying to save someone who is yelling the most famous Bollywood dialogue of all time: "Bhagwan ke liye mujhe chhor do."

The actor drew a lot of things that he thought represents France-- the Bastille, the Concorde, Voltaire, the French Revolution and the French connection.

One of the things that portray Paris is apparently the French kiss, according to the King Khan. So he drew two lips to show just that. Well, while we have lots of things to thank France for — crepes, lingerie, Amélie-- the French kiss is not one of them. There wasn't even an official French word for "French kiss" until 2013. It seems no one told SRK that french kiss, which means "to kiss someone's lips with the tongue", is a British expression.

SRK also seemed to have learned the very famous French word-- L'amour-- which translates to 'My love'.

And if it's SRK, it can't be without Bollywood, right? So, he drew two stick figures (almost) where the boy is seen dancing, and the girl says "Tu mera Hero No 1."

The event where this piece of art will be auctioned will be held at a Bandra five-star on June 22. It's expected to fetch between Rs 1.2 lakh to Rs 1.80 lakh.

Osian founder-chairman Neville Tuli said, "The rare sketch is more like a doodle-cum-drawing of Shah Rukh's visit to Paris. It provides a unique insight into the mind of a cinematic superstar in the making."
