In the wake of the London terror attacks last night, the security in Birmingham, where the Indian and Pakistani teams are scheduled to play this afternoon has been tightened.

In fact, according to an NDTV report, the hotel where the Indian cricket team is staying in Birmingham, has been placed under lockdown, and the traffic near the area has been curbed for a while.

A major terror attack took place in London as a stabbing rampage at Borough Market followed a van ploughing into pedestrians on London Bridge. Six people are dead and more than 30 seriously injured in what appeared to be a coordinated attack on Saturday. Three male attackers have been shot and killed.

The tension has escalated as for the teams as India and Pakistan are to play against each other in the Champions Trophy at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground on Sunday afternoon.

India had won the Champions Trophy in 2013 and are in good form after a hugely successful home season with 10 Test wins. But both team captains Virat Kohli and Sarfraz Ahmed have stated that they would like to treat this high octane match as just another game of cricket.
