After being ranked as the second most-selling smartphone company in India, Xiaomi is set to launch another phone in the Redmi series in India. The phonemaker announced the launch in a tweet and Xiaomi India's VP, Manu Jain, confirmed the news. Jain added that after the opening of the Xiaomi store in Bengaluru, the launch will be the other important event for the company this month.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 was launched in China last year, along with the Redmi 4 Prime. The Redmi 4 smartphone has a 5-inch 720p display running on the back of Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor. It has a RAM capacity of 2 GB and 16 GB of internal memory. The phone comes with a 4,100 mAh battery, 13 MP front camera and a 5 MP rear camera.

The higher end variant, the Redmi 4 Prime, comes with a Snapdragon 625 processor and 3 GB RAM capacity. Additionally, Redmi 4 Prime's screen has full HD resolution. The phone has a 32 GB internal storage capacity.

Both phones will be running MIUI 8 on top of Android Marshmallow 6.0. They are likely to be priced under ₹10,000.
