A 41-year-old businessman lost his life trying to save a drowning dog from the sea off the coast of Dubai, according to a Mid-day. Nitin Shenoy, the founder of the IT company, Tejora Technologies Limited, was taking a stroll on the beach at Palm Jumeirah on 9 April, when he saw the struggling dog.

The Lokhandwala, Andheri (W), resident thought nothing of his own safety and jumped into the water to save the dog, that reportedly belonged to a friend, and was pulled into the deep by the currents.

"Nitin loved dogs. There was a lot of panic and nobody can tell for sure what happened to the dog," his wife said. She said although Nitin knew how to swim, he had only swum in the pool and never in the sea.

The Al Barsha police has ruled out foul play and informed the office of the Consulate General of India at Al Hamriya, Dubai.
