Every year during this time, students writing the UP board exams work hard to score well. But there are certain students who work hard, but only by pushing their brains to think of the most innovative ways they can bribe or even "threaten" the evaluators.

Recently, a message by a female student of the Senior Secondary Board Examination went viral, where she had requested the evaluator to help her clear the exam because she was getting married in June.

"Sir main ek ladki hoon. Meri shaadi June 28 ko hai. Mujhe pass kar dena nahi to ghar waale gusse mein rahenge (Sir, I am a girl. I am getting married on 28 June. Please don't fail me, otherwise my faimly will be very angry)," Hindustan Times reported.

This is not the first time such a strange request was made by a student. In fact, evaluators say they even receive "threats messages" in answer sheets.

For instance, during the answer sheet correction last year, an examiner saw a note at the end of the copy that read:

"I will make your life difficult if I get to know who has evaluated my answer sheet. I can find out as one of my family members is in the education department."

In 2015, shocking pictures of parents climbing school walls to pass notes to their children in the Hajipur district of Bihar, had gone viral.

But apparently the fault is not only on the students part. There are several teachers helping the students in the crime.

According to a report in the Times of India, this year lone the UP board has lodged FIR against 111 centre superintendents and 178 invigilators for facilitating cheating across the state. And so far the number of students using unfair means has crossed the 1,400 mark, against which only 70 FIRs have been lodged.

"Some secondary education department officials are hand-in-glove with education-mafias. The top most officials ate corrupt and are involved in open and mass copying,'' UP Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh's state secretary RP Mishra told TOI.

Many invigilators and teachers were accused of helping students by either supplying them chits, helping them take the copies outside and get the answers written by experts.

In a measure to keep a check of educational mafias, the Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education has decided to randomly summon answer sheets from districts infamous for mass copying and get it checked by experts in Allahabad.
