NEW DELHI-- On a day when New Delhi summoned Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit to India to lodge a formal protest on beheading of two Indian soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC), India has decided to follow a strategy to deal with Pakistan.

Top government sources indicated to HuffPost India that New Delhi will double its efforts to isolate Pakistan in the international community. This would be backed by cutting down on visas given to Pakistani nationals. On the ground, the military will respond to aggression from across the border in equal measure. Sources also said that over-ground workers of terror organisations who are triggering protest and organising stone throwers will also be targeted more aggressively.

Since the Pathankot airbase was attacked by Pakistan-based terrorist in 2016, India has been trying to isolate Pakistan in the international community especially the Gulf countries. Prime Minister Modi has reached out to UAE and Saudi Arabia to isolate Pakistan. Sources indicated that India will now step-up on its diplomatic efforts further.

Talking to reporters after Union Cabinet meet in New Delhi, about the mutilation of Indian soldiers' bodies, Finance and Defence Minister Arun Jailtely said that Pakistan's denial "carries no credibility". He said that the "barbaric act" of mutilation was backed by the Pakistan "army" which provided cover fire to help the infiltrators.

Jaitley, however, refused to talk about the decisions taken by the Cabinet Committee on Security – the highest decision making body on security headed by the Prime Minister. It is understood that the CCS discussed the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and along the Line of Control with Pakistan.

Earlier today, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the situation in Kashmir with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Director of the Intelligence Bureau Rajiv Jain and Secretary of Research and Analysis Wing Anil Dhasmana.
