It seems Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath is following the footsteps of Prime Minister Narendra Modi a little too closely. At least that's what his model of governance looks like. And he's already cracking the whip on babus.

The chief minister has announced that he can call administrative officers, including district magistrates and superintendent of police, on their landlines to check on them between 9 am and 6 pm.

If they are not in office, they are in trouble.

The state government has said that the officers will be penalised if they are not able to justify not being able to take the CM's call.

Like Modi, the chief minister has also asked his ministers and officials to declare their assets. And just how ministers and senior bureaucrats of the Modi government was preparing 100-day and 200-day action plans in the initial days, Yogi's ministers are doing the same.

Within days of taking over, the chief minister had warned that those who are not prepare to work for 18 to 20 hours daily are free to leave their jobs. He had also cancelled 15 holidays observed usually to commemorate the birth anniversaries of famous Indian leaders.

"I am a workaholic and the bureaucrats will have to deliver too," he had said.
