She had suffered 90% burns.
Mail Today

Ghaziabad resident 36-year-old Sangeeta Verma, who was douse in acid by her in-laws and was admitted to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital died on Thursday night.

India Today had reported on Thursday that Verma had been admitted with 90% burns after her in-laws poured acid on her.

These in-laws and her husband, the report said, had been torturing for the past 15 years and had been demanding Rs 25 lakhs as dowry.

While she had asked her father and family members for help, her pleas fell on deaf ears.

Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi tweeted expressing her sadness over Verma's death and promised action:

Another report on Friday in India Today said that her husband had been arrested while her in-laws were absconding.

The victim's brother Pradeep was quoted in the report as saying, "Earlier, she was reluctant to tell the truth about her burn injuries. But knowing that her chances of survival are slim, she gave a statement to the police in an FIR that she was burnt by her in-laws."

It was earlier reported that while Verma had saved up money for her sons' education, her husband had blown it up on alcohol and other things. She was attacked last Thursday when arguments with her in-laws went out of hand.
