Car Driven By Class 12 Student Runs Over Five People In Delhi, Two Dead

NEW DELHI -- A total of two persons were killed and three injured after a car ran over them near Delhi's Kashmiri Gate. According to newspaper reports, the two killed were pavement dwellers and were sleeping when they were hit by the speeding vehicle.

A class 12th student who was driving the car has been apprehended. The other two passengers in the car were also class 12 students. The trio were celebrating the conclusion of their examinations.

The car, possibly, a Hyundai i20 was being driven at very high speed when it rammed into the homeless on the street.

DCP North, Jatin Narwal said that the driver claims he has turned 18 but the cops are still trying to verify documents to ascertain his age. They are also trying to find out if he was inebriated at the time of the accident.

The incident took place at 5.45 AM. More details awaited.
