Xiaomi Launches Mi 6 With Snapdragon 835 And Dual Camera

The flagship phone will be on sale in China from 28 April.


Xiaomi launched Mi 6, its new flagship smartphone, in China today. The phone was unveiled by CEO Lei Jun at an event in Beijing.

Mi 6 has a 5.15-inch full HD screen with reduced glare for eye protection. Under the hood, it boasts of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip. The phone's metal body is encased in four-sided 3D curved glass and, in an innovative move, it comes with dual front-facing speakers. Not many smartphones have opted for better speakers of late.

Xiaomi has removed the headphone jack from the smartphone and kept the fingerprint sensor in the front.

The Mi 6 base model has 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. While Xiaomi has dabbled with dual-camera before, this is the first time it has introduced a 12 MP camera at the back. There is an 8 MP camera in the front for taking selfies.

The phonemaker has also launched a silver version of the phone.

Mi 6 uses a 3,350 mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick charge 4.0 available. The base edition, with 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage, is priced at RMB 2,499 (approxiately ₹23,438) and the 128 GB variant is priced at RMB 2,899 (approximately ₹27,198). Mi 6 will be available for sale in China from 28 April onward.
