MNS Student Wing Barges Into Mumbai Zara Showroom, Asks Them To Stop Selling Made-In-Pakistan Clothes

The student's wing of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena attacked a showroom of the Spanish clothing chain Zara in Lower Parel in Mumbai on the afternoon of 18 April. The reason? They wanted Zara to stop selling clothes manufactured in Pakistan.

HuffPost India tried to contact Zara to confirm if a significant number of their clothes were manufactured in Pakistan but no one was available for comment.

According to a report in the Asian Age, the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS) had warned the showroom staff on the night of 17 April of consequences if they didn't remove all Pakistani-manufactured clothing from display, which is why some policemen had already been deployed outside the showroom.

At least 10 people, including MNVS corporator of Datta Narvankar, have been arrested and the police is conducting investigations.

In a memorandum, the MNS stated that the sale of Pakistani-made clothes in India is "alarming patriotic Indians" and Pakistan is using the money to fund terrorism.

The memorandum also cited the death sentence awarded to former naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav in Pakistan on charges of espionage.

Back in 2016, after the Uri attack that claimed the lives of 18 Indian army soldiers, MNS had served an ultimatum on all Pakistani artistes working in India to leave.
