Students revise their lessons before appearing in board exams.

A question in the Biology paper of CBSE's Class XII board examination has outraged a lot of students and others on social media. On Wednesday, the Biology paper that most teachers described as "tricky and moderately difficult" had a question on what is better-- burial or cremation.

The question was in reference to air pollution. It asked students to justify with arguments whether one should "bury" or "burn" to control air pollution.

"How would you justify your arguments that promote burying and discourage burning?" was the question asked.

Alok Bhatt, a Twitter user, tagged the HRD minister Prakash Javadekar and shared the question paper.

However, teachers told Hindustan Times that the question was in reference to air pollution, which a part of the Biology syllabus.

According to a report, the HRD ministry asked the board to look into the matter.

The CBSE, according to the report issued a statement later saying that subject expert who framed the question has been debarred. "A show cause notice was also issued to the official concerned," the board said.
