Phones, keys, wallets, even high-value cheques — chances are you may have misplaced one of these items in the course of a cab ride at some point in your life. But a puppy? Or a bulletproof vest? Sounds incredible, but it's true that Indians have been known to have forgotten such "belongings" in taxis too.

Data released by Uber reveals an extraordinary array of objects Indians have left behind on their cabs. The list is as baffling as mysterious. At one end are wooden planks, cricket bats and puppies — which are hard to not miss, while leaving a cab. Then there are more mundane things, like shades, chargers or rings that are found after a passenger has left the car.

Based on the frequency and number of messages Uber received via its app last year about lost articles (yes, you can report such losses, even if you do not have the number of the driver in whose car you left behind something precious), the verdict is pretty damning for Bengaluru: it is the most forgetful city in India.

December was the most forgetful month in 2016 for Indian Uber users, while worst day to remember their belongings was 31 December (well, surprise, surprise!). Finally, here's the list of the other things people have lost on Uber cabs. So, the next time you're leaving a taxi at your destination, don't forget to take a close look.
