A Kenyan woman has alleged that she was dragged out of a taxiand assaulted by a group of unidentified men in Greater Noida on Wednesday morning.

According to a report in the Hindustan Times, Maria Burendi told the police that she was beaten and kicked in the abdomen while she was travelling in a cab in Greater Noida's Kasna locality.

Burendi, who is a student at Noida International University, has been discharged from the hospital, where doctors confirmed the possibility of an assault.

A case has been registered under the relevant sections and a hunt is on to nab the culprits, HT reported.

The incident comes a day after an African man was brutally beaten by a mob of local men at the Ansal Plaza mall in Greater Noida.

At least four incidents of assault on Africans were reported on Monday evening, including the one in Ansal Plaza.

The attacks have been reported in the wake of the death of a teenage boy in Greater Noida of suspected drug overdose. Five Nigerian nationals living in the neighbourhood were first accused of "cannibalism" by area residents when the boy went missing. Later, when the boy turned up in a disoriented state, the same five men were accused of supplying him with drugs.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, has assured a fair and impartial probe into the attacks on the African students.
