The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has confirmed an investigation into US President Donald Trump's ties with Russian officials. FBI chief James Comey's formal announcement of the probe follows months of reports quoting anonymous government officials on the FBI-led, multi-agency probe into communications between Trump allies and Moscow in the lead-up to the 2016 election.

The appointment of Yogi Adityanath as the new chief minister of Uttar Pradesh might have been a surprise to many, but it's hardly a shock, writes Sandip Roy. In The Telegraph, Ruchir Joshi points out that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the BJP have finally thrown off their disguises and shown their true colours by selecting Yogi Adityananth, notorious for his divisive communal politics, as a leader of one of India's most important states.
