Woman Finds Dead Lizard In French Fries At Kolkata McDonald's

Appalling.
ANI News

A pregnant woman's food outing with her daughter turned into a very unpleasant experience after she was allegedly served a deep-fried dead lizard along with her french fries at a McDonald's outlet in Kolkata.

Priyanka Moitra had taken her four-year-old daughter to a McDonald's outlet situated on Mani Square for a birthday treat on Tuesday morning. They ordered burgers and fries, and discovered the deep-fried lizard after they had started eating their food. Moitra, who is six months pregnant, immediately felt sick and began vomiting.

"When I told the manager about the incident, he showed a careless attitude and left with just a sorry," Moitra later told the Times of India. She then took photographs of the dead reptile and filed a FIR at the nearby Phoolbagan police station.

"Later, we got a call from the head office of McDonald's in Delhi, asking us to sort out the matter," Moitra told ANI, "but we refused and said that we will go to the consumer forum and tell everyone. It is such a big chain and so many kids eat from it, so everyone needs to know about this."

McDonald's India (North and East) is yet to issue an official statement on the incident, but a company spokesperson told India Todaythat it is investigating the charge.

This is not the first time that an insect, rodent or reptile not meant for consumption has been found in a pre-prepared meal. In November, a passenger travelling on an Air India flight to Chicago found a cockroach in the in-flight meal.
