In a macabre incident, a drug addict was arrested on Wednesday for beheading and eating the flesh of a 7-year-old boy in Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit district.

According to a report in the Hindustan Times, Nazim, the accused, tempted Mohammad Monis into his relative's house in Amariya and then killed the boy.

Police, who were alerted about the incident by the neighbours, said that the sight they saw at the crime scene was shocking.

"The body was lying on the floor with the decapitated head beside it," Devranjan Verma, SP, Pilibhit said, adding, "the skin on the abdomen was missing and internal body parts and bloodstains were scattered across the room."

Nazim, who is believed to be a drug addict, was found sitting near the corpse.

An FIR has been registered against the accused under Section 302 (murder), Section 341 (wrongful restraint), 362 (abduction) and other sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Nazim has been sent to judicial custody by a local court in Pilibhit.
